Penn State joins Common Application for 2018-19



UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa .– Beginning this fall, students applying to Penn State will have the option to do so through joint application, an additional application method that the university’s undergraduate admissions office is adding to its lineup. of candidates.

The Common App joins the University’s MyPennState App and Coalition App as three ways prospective students can apply for undergraduate admission. The MyPennState application and the Coalition application will be available on August 1, 2018, for students applying for admission in the summer or fall of 2019. Prospective students interested in using the common application to apply at Penn State will be able to do so by September 2018.

The Common App currently serves and supports more than 3 million applicants, teachers, and counselors across the United States and around the world each year.

By joining the Common App, Penn State will have access to students who may not have otherwise considered college.

“We have been discussing the joint application for several years, but we had to be sure that they could handle the myriad opportunities available to prospective students at Penn State,” said Executive Director of Undergraduate Admissions Clark V. Brigger.

“With 20 undergraduate campuses in Pennsylvania, plus our global campus, and given the variety of over 277 academic programs available to Penn State students, we had to be sure that prospective students could choose from our wide range of opportunities, ”Brigger said.

In addition to providing another option to apply online, the Common App provides 24/7/365 support for students applying to Penn State. The Common App also connects applicants to financial aid and scholarship tools, digital portfolios, virtual mentors, a virtual advisor, and a library of resources for advisors, advisors and recommenders working with. students to complete their academic applications, which includes translations into Spanish.

“The decision aligns with Penn State’s priority of access and affordability and will ultimately make the application process easier for high school students hoping to attend our university,” said Brigger.

Students interested in applying to Penn State for the summer or fall 2019 terms can do so starting August 1 using the MyPennState app or the Coalition app. The common application will be available by September 2018.
